2026
Martin Luther King Day of Service
Village of Wellington

To honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Alpha Alpha Upsilon Omega Chapter, the Crowned Pearls of Wellington and Wellington Community Services volunteers celebrated the Village of Wellington's MLK Day of Service with a meaningful community breakfast.

The breakfast featured the musical and oratorical talents of local students and a powerful conversation with guest speaker Clarence E. Anthony, local Palm Beach County resident, former Mayor of South Bay and current Executive Director of the National League of Cities.

The day culminated with CPW and AAUO members along with SWAG (Students Working to Achieve Greatness), Regal Scholars and Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) middle and high school students mentored by CPW/AAUO, packing over 500 backpacks of food that will be distributed to local children.  The backpacks are distributed on Fridays to provide nourishment over the weekend, to children who may be facing food insecurity.

2024 SWAG and Regal Scholars Intern Graduation

Congratulations to the interns of the Village of Wellington SWAG and the Crowned Pearls of Wellington Regal Scholars programs for graduating! The Graduation Ceremony was held on August 6, 2024 at the Village of Wellington's Village Hall. The SWAG program is funded through a federal block grant received by the Village of Wellington and operated by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Alpha Alpha Upsilon Omega Chapter and the  Crowned Pearls of Wellington, Inc.

The SWAG program's primary objective is to prepare high school students for future success by providing personal and professional development opportunities. This year round program is designed to help empower and motivate at-risk and underserved high school students in order to overcome social and economic barriers that may impact their quality of life.

The program culminates in a paid summer internship with students working in local businesses and government offices.

Thank you to our guest speaker Ms. Joy King, Foreign Service Officer of the U.S. Department of State, for giving a powerful message to our students that resonated with us all.
